In the Beginning!
Afternoon all,
This is my first blog (here at least, I have one my friends can see on myspace) thought i’d create it and see how we get on.
First off I work as a pc/network support guy for around 250 users, I’m studying to complete my MCDST (Microsoft certified desktop support Tech), I’ve already passed one of the exams the 271 so only have the 272 to go before I get there, so I am currently an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional). Also I have the A+ certification which I completed back in 2003 (which got me my first proper IT job). I am aiming to continue studying after that for the exams 270 (windows xp) 290 and 291 (server 2003). I thought I would create this blog to have somewhere to write my learning experiences as I go, even if no one reads this it will be an outlet for my brain!
I dont plan to post anything personal on here so dont go expecting any juicey gossip because there wont be any.
I have my exam for the 272 scheduled very shortly (lets say within the month) and I am desperate to pass that because quite frankly I am not enjoying the content of the exam (im finding it a bit dull). This is obviously my fault for starting the MCDST perhaps I should just have done the 270 and chose a different elective but I think the simplicity of the objectives against that of the 270 (at least that I saw at the time) tempted me too much.
My previous jobs have been reasonably varied and I have had an idea for a while of where I would like to end up, my first IT job back in 2003 was for a smallish firm who are the last proper component level repair engineers of IT equipment. As it was my first tech job, I spent the first few months just building new pc’s for them and creating the images, (could be anything from a home user pc to 120 workstations/ servers etc , god I hated the bulk workstations builds!), but eventually when as I got through the grace period I went out onsite and did jobs for them and they taught me a bit about electronics etc which I am grateful for. I went on then to work for a helpdesk for 6000 internal users spread out across our district, which is where I got my first proper look at a working AD infastructure etc. I decided from then that I wanted to become a Sys admin for a small to medium size business, which is where my goal of MCSA comes in. I then moved on to my current job which is much closed to home and I am getting more technical exposure as after a year and a half I felt my experience and personal learning had outgrown the helpdesk role.
Anyway thats it for now until I can structure my ramblings in a more readable way.
Ta Ta.
