Here is 3 handy things to remember with perfmon. These are also the default counters loaded when you start perfmon.

Memory pages/sec this should be below 20 and should not be regularly any higher than 20.

Processor % processor time total; this counter should remain below 85%

Physicaldisk:avg disk queue length: this should remain lower than 2.00 if it goes regularly higher then it could point to a disk problem or too much page file usage.
